Mumbai, March 1 A Thane court extended the police custody of former encounter specialist Ravindra Angre till March 4. According to Ganpatrao Madgulkar, senior police inspector of the Naupada police station, the custody was extended after police told the court that they wanted to recover some documents related to the case and so needed his custody.

In October last year, Ganesh Wagh, a Thane based builder, filed a case of extortion and assault against Angre. Earlier, Wagh had told the police that Angre had forcibly taken his signatures on a paper and then took away his two cars. The dispute between Angre and Ganesh Wagh was over a sports complex which is to come in Thane and Angre's wife is a partner in the project.

Angre had filed an advance bail plea in Thane Sessions court which was rejected. He later appealed in the High Court and the Supreme Court, but the pleas were rejected. He surrendered before the police on February 22, but was sent to judicial custody. The police, on February 26, had sought his custody from court which the court had granted till March 1.
