Mumbai, March 3 A Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Monday directed the Bandra police to translate some Urdu documents pertaining to the bigamy allegations made by Meraj-ur-Rehman, who claims to be the former husband of actor Sanjay Dutt’s wife Maanyata, and submit the report to the court on March 10.

Police inspector Sanjay Patil submitted the report sought by the court on Monday. Judge Pankaj Shah went through the report but asked for some Urdu documents to be translated into English. The court has now directed for the report to be submitted on the date of the next hearing as Meraj was not present in court on Monday.

Meraj had alleged that his marriage with Maanyata was not annulled, and therefore, her marriage with Sanjay Dutt was illegal. Dutt’s discreet marriage in Goa was also aborted by the couple on February 28 after they withdrew their declaration under the Portuguese Civil Code, 1857 and expressed that they wished to solemnise their matrimony under the Special Marriage Act, 1954.
