New Delhi, March 7 A Delhi court today took to task a youth who had handed over his motorbike to a 14-year-old boy, who later died in an accident.

The incident dates back to February 2007 when the accused, Ashok, gave his Discover bike to Vikas while they were going towards Kalkaji from Tughlaqabad. Vikas, who was under-aged, crashed his vehicle into an autorickshaw and died.

An FIR under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) were later registered against Ashok by the south Delhi police.

The court said: “It is shocking that subsequently in this case, the person to whom the charge of motorcycle was handed over, died in an accident.”

The court released the accused Ashok Kumar on probation on furnishing a bond for doing some kind of social service. The court allowed him to approach NGO but directed the accused to hold a social and health awareness camp.
