Mumbai FC now head the table with nine points from three wins, followed by Mahindra u-19 with seven points from two wins and a draw. Air India playing in their first match, finished second best to Mumbai FC, whose coach Khalid Jamil was happy with the performance of his team but was a bit disappointed with his boys for missing three easy chances. Jayesh for Mumbai FC was the first culprit to miss by kicking wide. In the 21st minute a brilliant move was created between Sam Cruz and John Coutinho from the mid-field. Sam Cruz crossed the ball to the left flank to John Coutinho who passed it back to Sam Cruz, while John Coutinho came inside the ‘D’ and unleashed a powerful left-footer to the left of goal-keeper Wayne of Air India.
In the second half, Air India went on attack for a brief period but goal-keeper Neeraj Sharma of Mumbai FC brought off a couple of brilliant saves. So far he has not conceded a goal in the tournament. John Coutinho, who had only the Air India goal-keeper to beat, shot over the bar and then Rohit’s shot from the close was cleared by an Air India defender.
