Maoist posters found near the body of the tea stall owner said he was a police informer and was therefore “punished”.
Official sources said one of the bodies, of the tea vendor, was recovered from Pirakata, a kilometre from a police camp.
The victim has been identified as Bapi Bakli. His bullet-ridden body was left lying on the road early this morning. Bakli, who owned a tea stall at Pirakata bazar, was known to enjoy a good rapport with the jawans of the joint security forces who frequented his tea stall.
Hours later, armed rebels gunned down a CPM cadre, Hitim Mura, at Dhekia village in the Banspahari police station area.
Maoist posters were found all around the villages of Pirakata, Satpati, Patigeria in which they had threatened to hold “trial” of CPM leaders like Susanta Ghosh, Tapan Ghosh and Sukur Ali for their alleged involvement in the Chhota Angaria case in West Midnapore district.
