The centre, which was established in 1958 as a quality control wing for all the ammunition supplied to the armed forces, will celebrate its foundation with a cultural events, seminars, and exhibitions over the two days.

Speaking about the event, Col Alok Govil, joint director CQA (A), said, “The CQA (A) is a branch of the DGQA (Director General of Quality Assurance), the parent organisation which is 140 years old. As a three-tier organisation, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) designs equipment produced by the Ordnance factories and are finally brought to us for quality certification. It is only after the final approval given by us that the product goes for mass production.”

“The CQA (A) also check the shelf-life of the ammunition that is already inducted in the armed forces, so that the ammunition and the equipment are always battle-ready,” said Brigadier Arjun Sharma, additional director of CQA (A).

Govil said, “Our Delhi headquarter coordinates with the nine other centers to provide the best equipment to the armed forces. In addition to that, we also have our inspectors present on ground while the product is being manufactured to minimise the chances of a product being rejected at the inspection stage. We work on strict parameters for all the products and also carry out the testing of most of the ammunition here itself.”

The exhibition will display the ammunition and equipment utilized by the forces while technical seminars will see speakers from various fields throwing light on ammunition design, production, and quality control.
