KINGFISHER

This one’s the calendar that makes the maximum noise. Tippler tycoon Dr Vijay Mallya, whose Kingfisher beer is part of his United Breweries family, comes out with a datebook that’s a voyeur’s delight. Wispy models, itsy clothes and oodles of suntan oil, lens-man Atul Kasbekar and assorted stylists had a field day with this one. Each year, the location changes—they’ve been to France, South Africa, Australia and where-are-you. The visuals are sexy and titillating, and the large-size format is perfect for a cuddle when the wife’s away. But the real winner here is Dr VJM; it’s a brill marketing gig, all for a bottle of cold malted barley.

PINK CHARITY

This is what we like to call a cause celebre. The Pink Charity Calendar is a collaboration between Dalbir Bains of Boudoir London, whose mission on earth is to make women find their right bra size, and the affable Vikki Treadall of the British Deputy High Commission, in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness. The calendar features Shah Rukh Khan (after Chak De! India and Om Shanti Om, who else?) on the cover and other Bollywoodians like Priyanka Chopra, Karan Johar, Neil Mukesh, Dia Mirza, Kunal Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Rampal featured on every month. It’s shot by the film folks’ favourite photographer, Subi Samuel.

HDFC BANK

Capture the wild of India in the HDFC calendar titled Blue Planet. Very creatively, this started off with a meaningful poem that summarises the wild life theme. The calendar has an assortment of photographs of monkeys, lions, tigers, bears and other beautiful beasts, sourced from Dinodia Photo Library and Sanctuary Photo Library, for those who appreciate beauty of the fauna kind.

FINEWINESNMORE

For epicures with an insatiable thirst for the grape, here comes an extremely picturesque calendar from Finewinesnmore, an international distributor of premium spirits. The beautiful images signify a label from each country, and the calendar boasts of locales such as Italy, Spain, Australia, Chile, New Zealand and more.

DABBOO RATNANI

If he isn’t attending film premieres, he’s sourcing images to get his calendar ready. Unlike his earlier ventures, Bollywood photographer Ratnani has come up with an all-male date-book this time. It would have been a feast for the women, with a line-up that includes Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgan, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Ritiesh Deshmukh, but sadly we all know that the only people who ogle at men are other men.
