Two persons have been arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with an abduction-cum-murder case of a tractor driver. The police said, Buddha and Sunder, reportedly needed money to get married and so they allegedly killed the driver Manoj, 22, to sell his tractor. The deceased, Manoj used to work at a construction site near Geeta Colony. He went missing with his tractor on February 10 and his body was later found from the Mandoli area and a murder case was lodged with the Kotwali police station. During investigations, the police came to know that another tractor driver Buddha also went missing after the incident. Buddha was arrested and he told the police that he and Sunder had killed Manoj to sell his tractor. Buddha hired Manoj’s tractor and took him to Sunder’s house in Mandoli area where they killed him and buried his body. The tractor has been recovered from the duo.

Court to examine new witness in 1985 blasts case

A city court on Monday acceded to the prosecution’s request to allow examination of a new witness in a case in which transistors-like contraptions were exploded in buses and public places by alleged Khalistan sympathisers in 1985. The prosecution had sought the examination of the custodian of recovered goods at the Ashok Nagar police station, claiming that his testimony was crucial to prove the incriminating recovery of bombshells and other articles. At present, the case is at the stage of recording the prosecution evidence. The blasts on May 10 and 11 in 1985 had killed over 49 people and maimed 150 others. While 48 people were named as accused in the case, Delhi-based income tax lawyer Kartar Singh Narang was touted as the mastermind. Now, 23 years on, at least six of them, including Narang, have died.

Goods firm ordered to pay over Rs 1 lakh as damages

Two goods carrier companies have been directed by the Delhi Consumer Commission to pay Rs 1.39 lakh as damages to an export firm after it wrongly mentioned the consignment details in the shipment orders. “Negligence was writ large on the face and therefore, Fritz Freight Forwarding India Private Limited and Fritz International have to make up for the loss,” the Commission held, asking the firms to pay the amount within a month to Delhi-based export firm Bawa Paulins Private Limited (BPPL). In 1999, the complainant’s bank had refused to honour the letter of credit, as wrong details were mentioned on the freight cargo receipt, resulting in the blockage of Rs 13.79 lakh.

Woman commits suicide

Kumud Prasad, a 55-year-old woman, died on Tuesday after jumping from her ninth floor house in Indirapuram around 11 am. She lived in flat no DFD 901, Amrapali, Vaibhav Khand and is survived by her husband Nand Kishore Prasad, Deputy Labour Commissioner, and two sons aged 26 and 24. She was reportedly suffering from depression.

Four arrested for credit card fraud
