Vadodara, February 22 The Borsad police in Anand district diffused dozen odd crude bombs that the town sanitary workers had chanced upon early on Friday morning during routine sanitary operations.

While senior police officials, including Anand SP Gautam Gambhir, rushed to the spot, the bombs were found to be crudely fashioned in tobacco tin boxes stuffed with gun powder, iron nails and filings, and were tied around with strings.

Borsad Police inspector B J Pathan said they received a call at 10 am from the sanitary workers who had claimed to chance upon suspicious looking small packages during garbage collection on the Mahadev Road. The police cordoned off the area, and found the packages contained improvised

explosive devices.

A similar incident of crude bombs was reported in Borsad during the Assembly elections. Pathan said that officials from the forensic department have already confiscated the material, adding that they believe this latest incident is the handiwork of those deliberately trying to disturb peace in the region.
