Around 200,000 students from nearly 150 colleges will appear at the examinations beginning April. “This year, we have overcome the technical difficulties to upload the results,” said Suranjan Das, Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of CU.
To avoid ambiguity during the admission process, the university will also upload the details of all colleges with the subjects offered and the number of vacancies in each stream. According to CU authorities, this will restrict colleges from admitting more students than the number of seats available.
The university is also keen to change the examination pattern of post-graduate departments in the humanities and social sciences sections. “We have already started a dialogue with the respective departments. There will be also be some changes in the examination pattern to reduce pressure on students,” said Das.
Almost all post-graduate departments at CU’s science faculty work on the basis of the semester system. However, poor teacher-student ratio has not allowed the university to implement the semester system in the humanities and social sciences sections.
