New Delhi, February 6 A four-member Cuban delegation, including Erie Reyes Lopes, Cuba’s national director of physical education and health promotion, are now in the country to examine the sports facilities. During their six-week stay, the members will visit important sporting venues including Patiala.

The delegation has been invited by the government to inspect the sporting facilities and then give their suggestion, apparently in a bid to improve the country’s medal standing in the international competitions.

The members who arrived in the Capital two days ago, visited various stadiums and sporting facilities including the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) sports complex at Siri Fort. The team also visited Chhatrasal Stadium which is a hub of the sporting activity of school students.

Apart from sporting venues, the team members also had interaction with faculty members of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education.

On Tuesday, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) also made a presentation to the visiting Cuban delegates regarding its schemes for budding players in the country.
