The decision has been taken in the wake of two international kabaddi cups which were held in the stadium. To attract the public, the organisers violated certain guidelines of the Sports department. Apart from allowing four-wheelers and two-wheelers on the track, the infrastructure was also heavily abused. Last year, a glass door and a steel railing around the synthetic athletic track were broken during a cultural function. This time too, when the Kabaddi Cup was going on, the Sports department asked the organisers to deposit Rs 50,000 as security but the organisers tried to skip the fee of Rs 85,000 to the department. After the matter was published in an English daily, the organisers deposited Rs 1 lakh.
