Amritsar Reacting to the recent cut on petro products by the Congress-led UPA government, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said the deduction of the prices was not enough. He said given the drop in crude prices, the cut should have been more to benefit the general public.

Badal, who addressed two separate public meetings at Babbehali and Gurdaspur, and distributed funds for development, spoke about the stronger federal structure and even the Anandpur Sahib resolution, saying the document talks about the major powers vested with the provinces in the country.

He said he was confident of wiping out the Congress from the state by capturing all the 13 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state. Seeking the support of people during the polls, Badal said the SAD-BJP alliance government was aware of the people’s basic problems and ground realities. MP Vinod Khanna said a wave of development had been initiated by the state government.

Badal disbursed cheques of Rs 3 crore for Gurdaspur MC, Rs 2.07 crore for the villages in Gurdaspur constituency and Rs. 3 crore for the villages of Kahnuwan constituency, besides Rs 29.89 crore and Rs 6.17 crore for Gurdaspur and Kahnuwan constituencies to upgrade infrastructure in schools and colleges, apart from the road network.

He also announced that a memorial in the memory of the martyrs of Chotta Ghallughara (massacre) at Kahnuwan would be built soon. He also declared a holiday on the birth anniversary of the guru of Mahasha community, Guru Nabha Dass, besides a ROB across the GT Road at Gurdaspur and another bridge over Dhanoa Pattan.
