Chandigarh A day after an MBA aspirant and Dell employee was booked by the cyber crime cell for circulating obscene photographs of a woman known to him, a local court sent Sumit Dar to two-day police custody.

Dar is a resident of Sector 20, Panchkula. He was arrested after the complainant, a resident of Sector 46, told the police that Dar had hacked her email and sent her morphed photographs to relatives and friends in an apparent bid to defame her. The victim said they used to be friends but she had severed ties with him recently after he allegedly physically tortured her.

The victim said her family had sought help from Dar’s father, following which he had apologised for his act. He, however, continued with his nefarious activities and sent the photographs to her fiancé. She alleged that the accused had put her morphed photographs on a social networking website too.

Police said Dar used cyber cafes in Patiala to forward the victim’s photographs. An officer said he would be taken to Patiala for the identification of the computers he used, which would be impounded as case property. The police will also verify whether he had used the computers for any other criminal activity.
