Dadar accident: 60-year-old gets bail

Mumbai, January 1 Inderjeet Kaur, 60, who was involved in an accident at Senapati Bapat Marg in Dadar when her car knocked down some people leaving one dead and 12 injured on Monday, was released on bail today by the Bhoiwada magistrate court.

Senior Police Inspector Madhukar Sankhe of the Dadar police station said, “Kaur, a resident of Juhu Tara Road, was produced in the Bhoiwada magistrate court today after which she was granted bail. She was released on a bail amount of Rs 15,000. She was arrested by the Dadar police for rash and negligent driving.”

Most of the injured were garment factory workers who had left the estate for lunch. The car is in the custody of the Dadar police.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon at around 1:45 when Kaur, a house wife, was on her way from Elphistone towards Mahim in her Hyundai Getz car.

She lost control of her vehicle near the Senapati Bapat flyover in Dadar and rammed thirteen people. One of the victims, Suresh Sharma (45), died on the way to the hospital. The twelve others were admitted to the KEM hospital for treatment.

According to the KEM officials, most of the injured including 2 women had suffered severe head and leg injuries.
