Vadodara, February 16 A Slum dweller of Danteshwar area in the city submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was in the city on Friday, and threatened to immolate himself if the construction work in the area did not start in 15 days.

"In the memorandum, I have mentioned that I will immolate myself if the long-delayed work does not start in 15 days. It has been more than a year since we were displaced and no arrangements have been made," Narendra Jayswal said.

He added, "As a representative of around 2,000 slum dwellers, I gave a memorandum to Modi. We are yet to receive a reply from him… Although plots are allocated in Karelibaug, Waghodia and Ajwa areas under JNNURM, the construction work is still pending."

It was in November last year when around 2,000 people were displaced after the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) demolished the slum in Danteshwar.
