Dastur student drowns in dam

Pune, February 8 A Picnic of Sardar Dastur Junior College, located in Pune Camp, area turned tragic today as one its students, Elson G D'Souza (16) of Wadgaonsheri , drowned in Kamre dam in Bhor taluka.

According to Bhor police, a group of about 20, including teachers and students of the Sardar Dastur College, had gone to the Balaji temple in Ketkavle.

The group also went to the Kamre dam at Nasrapur in the afternoon. Some of the boys entered the dam water for a swim. After sometime, the group realised that Elson was missing.

The fire brigade, Bhor police and a rescue team of Army were called at the spot. The army and fire brigade tried to local the boy, but all in vain.

A staffer at Sardar Dastur College told The Indian Express that the group had left for picnic in a private vehicle around 7 am on Friday. None of the school authorities were available for comment.
