Jalandhar, March 5 NRI Sabha and the Punjab Government have decided to pool in their resources to prepare a database of all Punjabi NRIs, their woes, investment interests and family and property disputes for prompt resolution of their problems. An understanding to this effect was reached at a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and president of the sabha Kamljit Singh in Chandigarh late last night.

Kamaljit will visit different parts of the world having strong Punjabi presence and submit a report on the problems of NRIs to the Chief Minister. Disclosing this here, Harcharan Bains, media adviser to the CM, said Badal asked Kamaljit to specifically focus on the property-related problems of NRIs. The Chief Minister also emphasised on the need for closer co-ordination between government and the NRI Sabha for fighting the menace of unscrupulous travel agents. Badal and Kamaljit decided to jointly address the cultural and religious issues, like the turban ban in France, to help in preservation and propagation of the Punjabi ethos, said Bains.
