Chandigarh After three professors of DAV College, Sector 10, were suspended on Tuesday, the college faculty today started an agitation demanding the decision to be revoked. Professor A K Taneja, Professor Anil Sarwal and Professor Avinindra Chopra had allegedly manhandled college principal B C Josan at a Diwali function in November last year. The three, members of the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union, were suspended after Josan had filed a complaint against them.

The college authorities, meanwhile, have decided that strict action will be taken against the protestors, who will not be paid for the day they abstain from work.

Addressing the press today, principal Josan said: “The faculty members are creating mountains out of molehills. It was the managing committee’s decision to suspend the professors and I had no stake in the verdict.”

Sources said the professors were given the chance to apologise to Josan, but the three refused and were later suspended.
