Pune, February 24 Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) College Trust and Management Society will soon start an International Residential Deemed University. DAV has acquired 50 acres of land in Chamkhed village in the Hinjewadi area for the purpose.

“The school at present has officially acquired 50 acres of the land, but we are planning to acquire around 125 acres of land,” said Pramod Mahajan, general secretary, DAV college, Delhi.

“The process for obtaining the deemed status is on. We have submitted the proposal to the university grants commission. Probably in next two years, we will be able to start the courses. Initially, we will start with the biotechnology course,” said Dr K B Kushal, director of Dayanand Institute of Education Management and Research (DIEMR), who is heading the project. “We have a school in Pune where around 5000 students are studying. The university will be an option for them for their higher studies. Besides that students from other schools in the city and around will also have another option,” he added.

“The university will include a Law College, a management institute, an engineering college with information technology course and medical college with a hospital. We will be focusing on ayurveda in the medicinal branch,” he said.

DAV is also planning to start a Centre for Research in Vedic Studies. “Our school teachings are based on the Arya Samaj and Vedic teachings. We try to inculcate the values and principles of life in the children where they gain knowledge with values,” said Kushal.
