Day in a Congressman’s life: Rallies and Holi programmes

Chandigarh Congress workers, led by Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal, took out a procession in Sector 19 on Sunday to garner support for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Organised by the Chandigarh Territorial Youth Congress (CTYC), the rally concluded in front of the Hanuman Mandir.

A large number of people gathered at the venue from Manimajra and Gobindpura, whom the leaders assured that their housing problems would be addressed soon.

Also present at the rally were president of CTYC H S Lucky, president of District Youth Congress (Urban I) Ajay Sharma, CTYC vice-president Rajiv Moudgil as well as councillors Davinder Babla and Anju Beniwala.

Lucky said, “The budget allotment for Chandigarh has increased from Rs 168 crore to Rs 488 crore during Bansal’s tenure.” Around 125 workers from the BJP joined Congress during this meeting.

Later in the evening, CTYC also organised a public meeting at Pipli Wala Town, Manimajra.

Addressing the rally, Bansal gave information about the New Land Acquisition Bill passed in Lok Sabha.

Bansal also attended various Holi programmes at OCF Officer’s Club in Sector 29, Government College in Sector 42, organised by the Purwanchal Welfare Association as well as an event organised by Hira Lal Mahajan, an aspirant for a BJP ticket. Bansal also addressed several public meetings in Ramdarbar and Dhanas.

The BJP
Chandigarh: The BJP actively campaigned in different parts of the city with NDA candidate Satya Pal Jain addressing gatherings. Meeting were organised in Sectors 37 and 38, in which residents shared their grievances with Jain. A programme on the occasion of International Women’s Day, organised by the party’s Mahila Morcha, was also held at Sector 52. He also attended a holi milan programme organised by the Purvanchal Welfare Association.

The BSP
Chandigarh: BSP convenor and candidate for the party for the forthcoming elections, Harmohan Dhawan, attended programmes at various places in the city. Residents of Sector 20 pledged their support for Dhawan at a function organised at the Community Centre.
