Daylight murder over land dispute

Allahabad A woman was murdered on Wednesday by two persons with whom she had a land dispute.

Meena Devi (30), a resident of Bada Kanjasa, was on her way to greet her relatives on the morning of Holi, when Lalta Prashad and Ram Sajeevan intercepted her. They shot her with a countrymade gun and stabbed her repeatedly till she died. The assailants injured three others who rushed to her aid. Later, hundreds of villagers attacked the families of the accused, injuring five persons, who were admitted in Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital. DIG BP Tripathi, who rushed to the spot, had to call in the PAC to control the situation. Eight persons, including Lalta and Ram, have been arrested. "There was a land dispute between Meena and Lalta ,” said DIG.
