New Delhi The Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Central district, Jaspal Singh, was injured after his official Ambassador car crashed into a WagonR on Talkatora Road in Parliament Street of New Delhi area on Thursday morning.

A Swift car and another WagonR crashed into the vehicles on the busy road. Police said the incident was reported around 8.30 am near the residence of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Singh was on his way to attend a two-day course on counter terrorist strategies in Manesar when the accident took place.

Manuj Bhardwaj, the driver of the Wagon-R told Newsline, “I was on my way to office. I was going towards Parliament House, while the DCP’s car was coming from the opposite side. Suddenly, the Ambassador turned right and my car crashed into it.”

In the pile-up that followed, a Swift car, driven by Bhardwaj’s friend and colleague, Damanjeet Singh (29), crashed into the WagonR.

Another car behind the Swift rammed Bhardwaj’s car as well.

The DCP Singh, his driver, Rajender Singh and another person were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

He was later shifted out to Orthonova Hospital near IIT.

A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the Wagon-R driver Manuj Bhardwaj in Parliament Street Police Station.
