Manish Malhotra gets Kylie Minogue’s dress ready in two days as ‘she has a petite frame’

Right from the time Kylie Minogue (below) has landed in India, Bollywood seems to have taken over her life. First it was lunch at Akshay Kumar’s residence, and then it was a sound-recording session with AR Rahman. And now it is tinsel town’s dressmaker Manish Malhotra (right) who is wooing her, with his designs, of course.

In India, for the shoot of Ashtavinayak Films’ Blue, Minogue will be seen wearing an outfit designed by Malhotra for a song picturised on Kumar and her. “I was told about this just two days ago, when Farah Khan, the choreographer for this song, called me up. I then met Kylie at Renaissance in Powai and zeroed in on the outfit,” says Malhotra.

Since the number was shot in a nightclub in Mumbai, Minogue had to wear something jazzy and slightly over-the-top. “It is a champagne-coloured dress, lined with silver and Swarovski embellishments and with a dangerously low back. It is a gold-meets-silver sparkling ensemble,” says Malhotra.

The designer, who is busy with other assignments like Yash Raj Films’ Pyaar Impossible, Raju Hirani’s 3 Idiots, Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan and the Tamil film Robot, designed Minogue’s outfit in just two days. “I am running a packed schedule for a while now, but getting the dress ready was easy because she has a petite frame,” he says.

Er, okay.
