Pune, January 8 The newly-formed Dahad Sports Club romped home to a smashing victory — by an innings and 280 runs — against the Star Club during an open invitational league tournament organised by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA).

During the course of the tournament, which was held at Manjri, Dahad Sports Club scored 384 runs in the first innings. Chetan Yadav (93), (76) and Shomit Bhide (65) were the chief contributors.

In reply however, Star Club could only manage to score 72 runs in the first innings. They fared much worse after being asked to follow on by getting bowled out for a paltry 32 runs. Chaitanya Rangnekar was wrecker-in-chief by taking 12 of Star Club’s wickets, including seven wickets in the first innings.

It was, incidentally, Dahad Sports Club’s first-ever game after being formed only recently.
