Chandigarh In a mysterious case reported from House number 1184/1 in Sector 40, the police, on Saturday, recovered the decomposed body of a 35-year-old woman and also found her physically-challenged sister in the other room of the same house.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Kaur alias Dolly while her sister has been identified as Jasbir Kaur alias Billu (40). No injury marks were found on the body and the police ruled out any foul play. Bottles of wine recovered from the room, said the police, has made them suspect that an inebriated state caused the death. The woman had died nearly three days ago, added the police. According to DSP (South) Jaswant Singh Khaira, the incident came to light around 5.30 pm when some neighbhours complained of foul smell emanating from the house. On breaking the locks of the house, the police found Jasbir giving signals asking for water. Ranjit was found dead in the other room on a bed, added the DSP.

Their mother, said the police, had died four years ago under mysterious circumstances in the same house while their father had expired sometime back. The police have initiated inquest proceedings.
