Delegation from Moscow varsity visits PAU

Ludhiana A five-member delegation from Moscow State Agro-engineering University (MSAU) comprising Dr Roman Filonov, Head, Department of Tillage and students Victoria Gorlova, Anastasia Sorokina, Kristina Kalina and Elena Shekunova is on a visit to Punjab Agricultural university from January 27 to February 7.

They met Dr Manjit Singh Kang, PAU Vice-Chancellor, and Deans, Directors and other officers of PAU, today. PAU and MSAU have already signed an MoU for exchange of students of the College of Agricultural Engineering. The PAU students have already visited Moscow and the MSAU students to PAU under this programme.

Dr Kang said that exchange of students provided them with opportunities to know their institutes, culture and heritage that prove immensely useful to widen their vision. He said that under the signed agreement, groups from the two participating institutes have visited each other’s. Dr Kang said that the friendship between India and Russia had been quite old.

Dr Roman Filonov said that the relationship between PAU and MSAU was proving mutually beneficial and wished to see it grow deeper and deeper, laying focus on new programmes. He said that the similarity of mandated programmes of the two institutes made the exchange programme purposeful. Elena Shekunova interpreted speech of Dr Filonov in English.

Dr B.S.Ghuman, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, said that the visiting students will attend a training programme at PAU wherein they will be shown various departments, Plant Clinic, Centre for Communication and International Linkages, Museum of Social History of Punjab, Library, etc. He said that besides creating among the visiting students awareness about the farm machinery developed by PAU, they will be taken to local manufacturers as well as Punjab Horticulture Post Harvest Technology Centre and CIPHET.
