New Delhi, March 3 The Cup’s coming home. What the Delhi Ranji team awaits now is the return of Virat Kohli and Pradeep Sangwan.

The services of India’s U-19 stalwarts would certainly come handy as Delhi try to cement their place in the next round of the Ranji one dayers. And coach Vijay Dahiya knows their return will make the team even stronger.

“Their entry into the squad is automatic. Kohli was the skipper of the national team and Sangwan has bowled extremely well in Kuala Lumpur and there is no doubt they will be a part of our scheme,” Dahiya said.

“Though I’m not sure when they would be able to join us, as they have a felicitation ceremony in Bangalore,” he continued.

Kohli is undoubtedly one of the most promising players on the Delhi circuit and has the potential to make it to the next level very soon.

Dahiya, who has been closely associated with the right hand bat, feels that Kohli has come up very well with age and knows how to handle pressure now.

“Virat has matured and has come up very well for his age. His personal loss was more than a year back but he came back strongly. Even in this season when he was dropped from the Ranji team despite performing well, he never showed that it was affecting him.

“He never takes his cricket lightly. He used to come for nets and fitness sessions regularly. With the way he is performing, I think he will get a break in the senior team very soon,” Dahiya said.

The coach added that the Indian Premier League will be a big bonus to the young players. “The youngsters will get the best experience and exposure. Money is good for the game. What is interesting is the fact that the players will play with international stars, something they can do, at the moment, only if they make it to the international level.

“If someone’s getting good money, I’m happy about it. There are bowlers who are set to get Rs 1 lakh per ball,” he added.

Dahiya brushed aside the fact that Twenty20 tournaments might take a toll on the players keeping in mind the hectic schedule. “A bowler would bowl only 4 overs so where is the question of burnout? It will be fun,” he reiterated.
