New Delhi, January 7 Delhiites woke up to a misty morning today with the Meteorological department recording “moderate” fog for the first time this year. “Fog was always there in small amount since the new year day but it was not as bad as today when the visibility kept fluctuating between 1,500 metres and 800 metres during day time,” an official at the Palam Meteorological department said.

And though the visibility kept the traffic smooth in the city, the Meteorological Department says that Delhi might run out of luck by 10 pm when the visibility will be less than 100 meters due to dense fog. “The winds blowing in from the Arabian Sea is bringing in a lot of moisture with it which is causing the fog and for the coming few days it is going to get worse,” IMD Director S C Bhan said.

As for the gradual rise in the minimum temperature of Delhi from 1.9 on January 2 to 7.2 today, Bhan said, “The winds coming in from the Arabian Sea is warm while the ones from the North is cold.”
