New Delhi Delhi government will carry out a survey of placement agencies operating in the city following a High Court order and allegations that some agencies are involved in trafficking of women.

Committees will be set up for each of the nine districts, which will carry out detailed scrutiny of the placement agencies and file their report by December 1, Labour Minister Ramakant Goswami said.

The minister said on Tuesday he had issued a direction to this effect to his department.

The Delhi High Court had earlier asked the city police and the Delhi government to ensure registration of all placement agencies and probe the allegations that some of them were involved in trafficking of maid servants.

The court had also asked the Department of Labour to constitute a committee to look into the allegations. The court had given the order on PIL filed by NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

The district level committees will be headed by District Labour Commissioners while Sub-divisional magistrates, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Sub-Regional Employment officer will be their members.
