This has resulted in a fall in the minimum water level in the Western Yamuna Canal, in turn affecting the functioning of the Chandrawal and Wazirabad water treatment plants. “Due to the drop of water level in Yamuna, to be maintained by the Haryana Irrigation department, water supply from the Chandrawal and Wazirabad water works will be affected during the next two days,” DJB spokesperson Sanjam Chima said.
Officials said Haryana has cut down Delhi’s supply of raw water without any formal intimation. Though DJB CEO Ramesh Negi is already in talks with Haryana, highly placed sources in DJB say the situation might take longer to normalise.
