Ludhiana Sudesh Bajaj asks principals to submit annual board results in two days

The classrooms of various government schools in Ludhiana may soon become ‘no-cellphone zones’, with District Education Officer (Secondary) Sudesh Bajaj passing an order on Monday, which prohibits government schoolteachers from carrying their cellphones to classrooms.

“I gave these orders to the principals of senior secondary schools and headmasters of high schools during a meeting at Nauria Mal Jain Senior Secondary School in Bharat Nagar,” said Bajaj.

The order assumes significance as teachers, on various instances, have been found using cell phones even while teaching an active class.

Also, with the annual examinations round the corner, the DEO has asked the principals to instruct teachers to assess the strengths and weaknesses of students. “I have instructed teachers to maintain a proper diary regarding their daily work in school.”

Bajaj also asked all the government school heads to submit the annual result of board classes within two days.

She said, “I have told the school heads to submit the comparative results of the last two years as some schools used to earlier function without heads and principals. I want to see if the results of government schools have improved after getting a headmaster or principal in the last two years.” The DEO added that schools with low results will be issued notices.

Bajaj also said that the good work of teachers would be acknowledged. “I have asked for the names of teachers who have been doing good work. We will recommend their names to the higher authorities,” concluded the DEO.
