Sonu Sood, the little known actor who sprang into prominence by playing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s brother in Jodhaa Akbar, is currently sweating it out on the sand dunes of Dubai, where he’s been for the last three months shooting for a film called City of Life.

Directed by Ali Mostafa, who’s been associated in the past with small films in the Emirates, Sood thinks this just might be the role that catapults him into the mainstream.

“The producers saw my performance as Soojamal in Jodhaa Akbar and offered me the part. The script was exciting so I signed up for the project. I hope this film opens new avenues for me,” says Sood, who will be playing the part of an Indian taxi driver called Khalifa.

His next Bollywood venture is a UTV production titled Dhoondte Reh Jaoge which will release in March.
