Chandigarh, January 7 While the court has directed action against “errant” Sub-Divisional Engineer, Public Health Division No 3, Rajesh Bansal, the UT Administration is assigning him projects worth crores. Bansal has also been given the additional charge of a sub-division which looks after water supply connections to villages under the UT Administration.

Bansal is learnt to have issued several water connections to residents of village Khuda Jassu, which is outside Lal dora area, exceeding his authority.

According to the documents, which are with Chandigarh Newsline, Bansal is handling more than a dozen projects.

Under the UT Administration, two sub-divisions: Sewerage Sub-Division No 1 and Water Supply Sub Division No 2 (both under the Public Health Division No 3) are responsible for maintenance of government residential and non-residential buildings.

Bansal, who, because of the CVC ruling had to be transferred out of the Public Health Division No 3, was just transferred from its one wing to another. He was transferred from Sewerage Sub-division No 1 to Water Supply Sub-division No 2. However, within six to seven months he managed to get a transfer back to his department. Sources said certain officers of the UT Administration, because of their personal interests, were also thinking of giving him an additional or current duty charge of Executive Engineer.

This is what they said: UT Chief Engineer S K Jaitley: I have sought a report on the issue from Superintending Engineer Krishanjeet Singh as to what action he had taken on the showcause notice. You can contact him for further details.

Superintending Engineer Krishanjeet Singh: I am into looking the matter, but V K Arora is the new Executive Engineer. You may ask him for further details.

Executive Engineer V K Arora: I have just joined a few days ago. Our SE Krishanjeet Singh was asked by the Chief Engineer to submit a report. He must have done so.
