Chandigarh Ill-maintained parks and green belts as well as dumped construction waste are some of the problems that continue to harass residents in Sector 30. It is evident that the sector is in dire need of being spruced up.

Broken swings in the parks are proving to be a risk for children while plantation in the area too seems to be neglected.

The residents also do not seem to be making an effort towards the upkeep of parks. The park railing seems to be a convenient place to dry clothes. Broken pavements outside the houses are also a common sight in the sector. The damaged tiles need to be replaced for making the pavement fulfill its designated purpose.

Residents have also constructed entry and exit points for their houses that open up on the main road proving to be a traffic hazard. The pavements on the main road have also been tampered with in order to provide a passage for vehicles.

Lack of parking space is another problem plaguing the sector as it is the case with several other sectors. Vehicles can be seen parked on either sides of the road causing difficulty in the movement of traffic.

A resident of the sector, Seema, says, “There is hardly any space available for parking. The streetlights also do not function properly and we do not feel safe going out at night.”

Construction waste in the sector lies unattended waiting to be disposed off. Vacant spaces in the sector are filled with rubble and garbage. Residents are of the view that instead of becoming a dumping ground, the area should be developed so it can be used for recreational purposes. Broken road gullies in the sector also need to be covered to avoid any untoward accident.
