The police suspect that the murders were the fallout of a dispute between accused Dhruv Kumar and his former wife Ganga Devi.
The Jalaun police recovered the bodies of the five family members, with their throats slit, from their house in Bagura locality under the Kotwali police circle.
The deceased are Ganga Devi, her sister Munni Devi, mother Kishori Devi, uncle Shri Krishna and a close relative Ramvati.
The FIR also names two unidentified persons. A massive hunt has been launched to trace the three.
“Dhruv Kumar was annoyed with Ganga Devi because he was dismissed from his job on the basis of a complaint lodged by her,” said Inspector P Singh. A native of Etawah, Dhruv married Ganga a few years ago but later divorced. Ganga, meanwhile, approached the CRPF headquarters and lodged a complaint stating that Dhruv had produced fake documents to get the job. An inquiry was set up after which Dhruv was dismissed.
Jalaun Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar said: “We are collecting details about Dhruv Kumar, who is still absconding.”
According to police, Ganga’s close relative Sarvesh Kumar was the first to spot the bodies.
When he reached the house early on Friday morning, he saw Dhruv and two unidentified persons coming out, they said.
Sarvesh informed the police and neighbours who rushed the bodies to a nearby hospital where doctor declared them dead on arrival.
