DMCH doc gets international recognition

Ludhiana Associate professor of Pediatrics Department at DMCH, Dr Puneet Aulkah Pooni has been chosen for a post of clinical fellow in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University, UK. This fellowship was awarded on the basis of her resume, work experience and telephonic interview by a team of doctors from the said institute.

During her tenure at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University, UK, she will be actively involved in care of critically sick children and also learning various procedures including pediatric echocardiography and teaching the medical students over there.

Dr Pooni did her graduation in medicine from DMCH, was the second best graduate and had many medals and distinctions in her illustrious career. After doing MD in Pediatrics from DMCH, she joined as an Assistant Professor in the department in December 1998 and was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in April 2006.

Presently, Dr Pooni is looking after Pediatric ICU at DMCH and was instrumental in the initial establishment and development of Pediatric ICU in this institution.

She was also awarded visiting fellowship by Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health in the year 2001, when she visited Pediatric ICUs in London and also did observship at Pediatric ICU of Children Hospital, Sydney, Australia in 2004.
