Jalandhar Dayananad Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) has decided to hand over the body of Vansh, a son of a poor labourer and waive off the pending hospital dues.

Joginder Kumar of Dhogari village was unable to clear the pending dues of Rs 43,000 of DMCH, where his one-year-old son died five days ago.

DMCH Director Vikram Bhanot said in the evening, “We called up the Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner to send the parents to take the body of the child. We were approached by several people for clearance of the dues on Rajinder’s behalf, but we have decided to waive off the bill.”

Meanwhile, the Punjab State Human Rights Commission has also taken suo motu notice of a news report published in The Indian Express on Thursday, ‘Man alleges hospital not giving body of dead son’. The commission has called for a report from the state government through the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner.
