Docs train policemen on first-aid

Chandigarh, January 4 Fortis Hospital, Mohali, conducted a training session on first-aid techniques for police personnel posted at the Police Control Room and traffic wing of the Chandigarh police, at Sector 29 Traffic Police Auditorium on Friday.

Empanelled consultant surgeon Dr Rupak K Das, nursing educator and urologist Sister Vinesh and the nursing in-charge, MSOT, Fortis Hospital, William Khurshid Marsih, conducted the training sessions designed to train police personnel on life-saving skills and recognising emergency situations and deal with them competently. The basics of first¿aid and cardio pulmonary resuscitation were explained in detail during the training session.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rupak of Fortis said, “Society, as well as HIV/AIDS victims need police support and a humanitarian approach towards them.” Sister Vinesh added, “Statistically, more than half the lives lost in road accidents could have been saved if first-aid and BLS had been available to the victims.”

The team from Fortis also discussed that how HIV spreads and protection techniques from the dreaded infection. The doctors also acquainted the police personnel with different HIV testing centres.
