The vital role of lipids as singling molecules in heart health was suggested by Dr Surinder Cheema from Canada. He added the role of lipids becomes crucial as bad cholesterol plays the main role in initiating Coronary Artery Disease.
“As there is an alarming rise of hypertension and associated CVD in India, the increased role of aldosterone and rennin in plasma and nitric oxide levels seems to be on the higher sides in these patients,” said Dr M A Qadar Pasha.
While today’s discussions focused on the research being carried out at different places to detect probable causes of heart ailments, Dr Nibriti Das elaborated on the role of oxidative stress and eNOS gene in essential hypertension.
Dr Madhu Dixit complemented Dr Das’ findings by citing a study on experimental animals from Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Lucknow.
Dr Akira Matsumori from Japan discussed the role of Hepatitis C virus in Cardiomyopathies in Japan and various other continents including Pakistan and some parts of Europe.
The conference was formally inaugurated by Governor of Haryana Dr A R Kidwai. All the national and international guest speakers were introduced by Prof K K Talwar, Director, PGIMER.
Dr N K Ganguly received the award of eminent scientist working in the field of infections and cardiovascular medicine. Professor R C Sobti was the guest of honour and released the scientific abstract book formally.
