Dodray’s brace rescues Ranchi team from defeat

Chandigarh When the chips were down and SS High School, Khunti, Ranchi, needed something special, Enem Dodray answered the calls and scored a brace to help the team draw 2-2 against Pooja Modern School, Kurukshetra, Haryana, in a group A match of the 38th ATS Junior Nehru Under-17 Hockey Tournament held at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium on Friday.

As the match progressed, it was Karambir who put Pooja Modern School in lead when he scored in the 12th minute of the match. Seven minutes later, Sunil Kumar was on target as he rallied to double the lead through a superb strike. Down by two goals, it seemed that the day's honour would go to the Haryana side but Dodray scored scored two goals in span of five minutes to help his team earn a draw. He scored in the 31st and 36th minutes. In another match of the day, Th Deepu Meitei scored a hat-trick to steer NCC 'A' towards an easy 9-0 win over Gyandeep Hindi High School of Ahmedabad in a group H match. Meitei found the back of the net in the 30th, 53rd and 66th minutes. Th Herojeet Singh scored in the third and seventh minute, while Ranjeet scored in the 16th and 70th minute.

S.K.C Adarsh Inter College of Varanasi (U.P.) outplayed Government Senior Secondary School, Jarkhar (Ludhiana) 7-2 in a group J encounter. Sandeep scored a hat-trick (6th, 13th, 57th), while Yadav netted a brace (31st, 61st). Saif Ahmed (44th) and Rashid Ahmed (69th) were the other scorers. Daljeet Singh (35th) and Karanbir (63rd) reduced the margin for Government Senior Secondary School, Jarkhar (Ludhiana ).

Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Fatehgarh Churian Road, Amritsar thrashed Moti Lal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, Distt. Sonepat (Haryana) 11-2 in a Group G encounter. For the Amritsar school, Ramandeep Singh scored a hat-trick (1st, 54th, 60th), while Gurjot netted a brace (23rd, 48th). Narinder Kumar (45th), Lovedeep (50th), Lovepreet (55th), Haramandeep (69th) and Gurpreet (67th) were the other scorers. Krishan Tewatia (42nd) and Kartik Kumar (58th) reduced the margin for Rai Sports School.
