Pets and their parents are invited to walk the runway

Dogs have a way of melting even the stoniest of hearts, and if it’s the adorable but incorrigible lab from Marley & Me, we know that there is much that we can learn from man’s best friend.

Raising a paw to the cute and cuddly but rather naughty labrador that stars in the Owen Wilson and Jennifer

Aniston romcom, Payal Bhatia, dog lover and supplier of pet food, Petsmart, is organising a doggie bash. “For the last seven years we have been manufacturing dog food and we have launched a range of products especially for labrador pups. It was a coincidence that we also saw Marley & Me. We loved the film and the book so we wanted to do something centered round this,” says the young Bhatia.

The event sees a fashion show where dogs and their owners will walk the ramp. “People will dress up their dogs as different characters and will talk about life since they got their had pets. It’s not a commercial venture, but aimed at spreading love for dogs, stray or thoroughbred,” says Bhatia, cooing over one of the entries—a doggie in a two-piece bikini.

There will be fun and games for every canine. A Marley look-alike will perform tricks and the trainers will gave tips on training that owners can follow up on. Besides, dog lovers can pick up cool gear at the Welfare for Stray Dogs (WSD) stall for their pets — doggie tees, belts, collars and chew toys for your pet.

Get a grooming lesson as Petsmart’s in-house expert gives tips about each breed and how to groom them. Of course celebrity pet owners would be dropping in too.

We’ve heard of dogs shows and even dogs dressing up on Valentine’s Day but this the first time that it goes designer with owners walking the ramp with their pooches.

After all there are only limited places where you can take your dog.

On Sunday, February 15, from 5 pm onwards, at Fame Adlabs, Andheri West; to register call 098200 51130.
