Domestic help kills 2 sisters

Payal (Ludhiana), February 16 Two elderly women were strangled to death in a village under Payal Police Station in the district. The deceased were sisters. Their domestic servant, who is the main suspect, is absconding .

According to police, the women were murdered by their domestic help Ramu and his associates at Chankoia village near Doraha on Friday night.

Nearly Rs 10,000 and some gold ornaments are missing from the house. Amar Kaur (70) and Bhupinder Kaur (65) and their 15-year-old mentally challenged nephew Lalli were at home at the time of the incident. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when Lalli went to neighbour's house holding a rifle. When the neighbours went to inform the sisters, they found that they had been murdered.

A police party led by Khanna SP Gurmeet Singh, Payal DSP Rattan Singh reached the spot.

Their brother Teja Singh was away at the time of the incident. SHO Anil Kohli told Newsline, "The accused Ramu was working with the family for the last one month and the address of his native place is not known."

Meanwhile, the bodies were sent to Ludhiana Civil Hospital for post mortem.
