As spring draws near and we are in the midst of the romantic month of February it is time to celebrate love which has stood the test of time and travails connected with ‘living’. Though Valentine’s Day has become synonymous with declaring and celebrating love now but some lucky couples unwittingly tied their nuptial knot on this day years ago and today find so many people ‘living’ it up on their special day. In short today love is in the air and they too feel that everybody is out to share their joy in their togetherness of the past so many years !

Rippi and Harvinder Chatwal have seen thirty six summers starting from Valentine’s day in 1972. Rippi, a pioneer in the beauty business, being the first franchisee of Shahnaz Herbal, gets all mushy and dew-eyed when she recollects their life together.

“It has been all a question of mutual give and take and “concern” and “care” are the two key words for me which are more important to me than all the roses offered to celebrate.” One almost can observe the better half, Harvinder, marvelling at his wify’s mature understanding, wondering whether his roses would be appreciated or not !

An industrialist who practices homeopathy as a hobby, Harvinder feels “Rippi is and has been has been the disciplining force for me, she being from the service background while we were a business family.” But it seems to be tempered with lots of love the way Rippi glances ardently at her better half. It has to be only love when it is St Valentine doing his bit today

It was the days of the emergency and the year 1976 and 14th February when Gursharan S Ryait, working with Aviva Life insurance. and having a strong business background, and Surinderpal stepped into the matrimonial arena and now they feel one in festivity when their marked day is felicitated by one and all celebrating this festival of love.. Mutual love reinforced with the nuances of daily living has been possible with both believing in the mantra of ‘equality.’ The mister quips, “When she scolds me I just keep quiet and when I am upset she just does not give it back in the same tone” and the Mrs has only a quest for a friendly relationship and from the twinkle in her eyes we can see that she has got what she wanted.

Jaipur was the destination to commemorate their 25 years of togetherness and they are already planning where to go for the 50th year of friendship. On this Valentine’s day we wish that all their dreams may see the light of the day.
