Dr Kang added, "Dr Brar had been given 30 days from the day when we gave him all the documents sought by him. We had even given him the evidence provided to us by the complainant. While the evidence that we have with us in CD form, the same has been given to Dr Brar in a transcript form."
A woman employee working in the university's DSW office had leveled charges of sexual harassment against Dr Brar last September. Following this, a fact-finding committee had been constituted which submitted a report to the V-C. Dr Brar had, however, refused to depose before the committee. In his correspondence to the university, Dr Brar had claimed that as he had not been given all the documents, including the evidence, he was in no position to respond.
Dr Kang, however, had accepted the fact finding committee's report and put Dr Brar on suspension. The decision was reverted by PAU Board of Management who transferred Dr Brar to his parent department of entomology.
The V-C further said, "The need to constitute a committee will depend entirely on Dr Brar's reply. In case, he accepts the findings of the committee there is no need for another committee and I will proceed on the case. However, if he decides to contest the charges then we will proceed with the inquiry."
On the move of Dr Rajender Kalra, a PAU faculty member who as the warden of a girls hostel joined duty just to resign the same day, Dr Kang said, "This was done by the DSW as Dr Kalra claimed that she felt humiliated by the timing of her ouster.
Though she wanted to be relieved from the post but not at this time, so he gave her a chance to join only to resign again. This was all done with the intervention of PAUTA."
