Drainage system in Sec 32 to be upgraded

Chandigarh In its first meeting, the Water Supply and Sewerage Disposal Committee of the Municipal Corporation decided to widen the roads after informing the Public Health Department to prevent damage to sewage and water supply lines. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ravinder Pal Singh and attended by other members of the committee including Harjinder Kaur, Chander Mukhi Sharma, Jatinder Bhatia, Dr A P Sanwaria, Reeta Sharma, Anu Chatrath, Sheela Devi, Raj Kumari Mishra and all XENs of Public Health Wing.

The committee recommended a estimate for the work of providing, fixing, testing and commissioning of gas chlorination system at various tubewells under the MC. An amount of Rs 5.04 lakh has been earmarked for the purpose. Meanwhile,the estimate for the construction of a public toilet block opposite a mosque in Manimajra was also sanctioned.

It was also decided to upgrade the storm water drainage system in Sector 32 and make new gullies in Sector 46 at Rs 7.25 lakh. Road gullies will be constructed in front of deluxe and additional deluxe buildings in Sector 9 at Rs 6.10 lakh. Also, sewer lines next to the multi-level parking in Sector 17 will be shifted at a cost of Rs 5.13 lakh.
