Based on the theme 'Rain and Man', Raval's paintings take the viewer to almost all the facets of life wherein men and women, rich and poor, old and young, all seem to relate to this element of nature in their own ways.
Devoid of any detailing, the human figures take an elongated form with droplets of rain all over. As you move from one painting to the other, the visuals keep changing from men and women getting drenched to children peeping from behind a brick wall to youngsters merry-making on a showery day.
"Elongation reflects connectivity to the supernatural, the almighty. And that's why you see the elongated men. When I started painting on the theme, my own experiences, as I saw people around, got manifested in colours and forms. After all art in itself is an activity of inputs and their expressions," says Raval, whose one of the paintings is inspired from his own poetry.
Not only people, even the fields, castle, brick walls and, umbrellas of course, form immediate and significant elements in the paintings, complementing the rainy ambience. The use of colours to throw the effect of light and darkness and the bright attires of rural folks certainly add to the rainy charm of the paintings.
The exhibition is on till Feb 11.
