Panchkula, January 1 Panchkula police now have to deal with another embarrassing incident after the Jogi custodial death case.

The former SHO of Sector 5, Panchkula, Inspector Zile Singh was not only found in a drunken state during his duty hours late last night on New Year’s eve but was also allegedly involved in forcibly taking Rs 4,000 from a local resident at the Sector 17/18 point in Panchkula.

“My friend Rajan Gupta was drunk and was stopped by Zile Singh at the Sector 17/18 point. ASP Manish Chaudhary directed the inspector to get Rajan Gupta checked medically and get a case registered too. In the process, the inspector who was badly drunk, took Rs 4,000 and a ring from Rajan Gupta before getting the medical test done. The inspector refused to return the money when asked to,” said a police official on duty.

He added only after the ASP reached the spot that the money could be recovered from the inspector’s pocket. The ASP refused to comment on the issue. Panchkula SP Sandeep Khirwar said, “Zile Singh is being suspended in the case. This is a gross negligence of duty on his part.”
