New Delhi In a move that might prove a major hurdle for several ongoing infrastructure projects in the Capital, the DUAC has shot off a letter to the Environment department of the government that recommends withholding clearance for felling trees in projects that have not received approval from the Commission.

The letter assumes significance keeping in view the Ring Road Bypass project. The DUAC has not approved plans of the Public Works Department for the Rs 654.39-crore bypass project. In a communication to the PWD in January 23, the DUAC has stated, “The PWD is advised to submit a revised proposal as per the observations and suggestions of the commission.” The letter was sent by the DUAC nearly after a month after they visited the site on December 22. The PWD had, in the meanwhile, began working on the project after receiving a go-ahead from the Lieutenant Governor’s office. The project had been under the DUAC’s consideration for more than two years.
