When a bank official refused to help Sanoj count the denominations of the currency which she had brought along to deposit, the two unidentified accused offered to help her count the same. After counting the currency in front of the victim, the accused even wrote its denomination in the deposit slip and even put the currency in Sanoj's bag by rolling it with a rubber band. After doing that, the accused left from the bank.
The theft came to notice when the complainant handed over the cash along with the deposit slip to the bank official for depositing, who informed her that Rs 12,500 were missing from the total amount. A complaint was then lodged with the Kurar police.
However, the entire episode was captured on CCTV and the tapes were released on Friday. The officials are confident they would be able to arrest the two accused based on the footage. “The tapes of the CCTV have been handed over to us and based on those tapes, we will be releasing the sketches of the two men which will help us in nailing the accused,” said Senior Police Inspector Ramchandra Aher of the Kurar police station.
